HOW
MUCH IS YOUR PENIS WORTH?
NASHVILLE, Tennessee - In
1998, Arthur C. Tucker Jr. went to Vanderbilt University Medical Center
for treatment for a swollen prostate gland. The doctors used the
Prostatron system which is used to destroy excess prostate cells with a
beam of microwaves, but during Tucker's appointment, something went
terribly wrong. Nurses told him that the pain he felt was normal when it
turns out the catheter may have slipped during the procedure causing the
microwaves to be directed at his penis. His penis was burnt so badly
that he stayed in bed for nearly a month, and then the member still had
to be amputated. Tucker and his wife sued the hospital and EDAP
Technomed Inc., which distributed the device, for $13 million. They
reached an out-of-court settlement this week and the couple is
reportedly "satisfied."
